Stowe
National Trust, UK

The National Trust is a charity that works to preserve and protect historic places and spaces. Stowe is a National Trust property which houses beautiful landscape gardens as well as over 40 temples and monuments. Stowe has inspired writers, philosophers, artists and members of the public from the 18th century to the present day.

National Trust wanted to create a coherent look and feel throughout the property encompassing everything from signs, printed material, staff uniforms to the napkins in the restaurant.

The challenge was to design a set of style guidelines to differentiate Stowe from other National Trust properties whilst keeping within the National Trust brand guidelines.
The result was a unique look and feel that was inspired by the views you see when walking around Stowe gardens. As you turn to take in a new vista you find a beautiful scene framed by elements of the garden. Leaf illustrations were developed to re-create these enchanted glimpses of Stowe.

Competed at Easy Tiger Creative

The concept behind Stowe’s graphic look and feel is led by the views you see when walking around the garden. As you turn to take in a new vista you find a beautiful scene framed by elements of the garden. These views feel enchanted and slightly surreal with glimpses of monuments framed by leaves and stunning areas of light and dark with a constant breezy movement.

The New Inn

Stowe's New Inn originally opened in the early 1700s as a coaching inn for visitors who came to see the splendid gardens at Stowe. Following an extensive renovation, the New Inn has since been reopened. With the restoration complete a set of graphic panels were produced that reflected Stowe's grandeur and history. This was achieved with the use of quotes and old etching found by writers and artists of the1700s who use to visit Stowe for inspiration.
